Meet The Author, Luis Miguel Martinez-Rivera

My name is Luis Miguel Martinez-Rivera I spend countless hours reading and writing poetry. Do you know what phase the moon is in at this instance?
I am twenty-six years old and have a Bachelor’s degree is in English with a focus on literary studies and have a Master’s in English from Arizona State University and a Master’s of Arts and Teaching from Central Missouri University. I am a Special Education Teacher with the Waynesville R-VI School District and teach at the Piney Ridge Facility. I am also an Adjunct Instructor with Columbia College in the Waynesville/Ft. Leonard Wood area.

While in college, I was taking an introductory English course.  After the first class, the professor approached me and told me I should consider coming into the English fold. Ever since then I've wanted to teach English. I am passionate about English and literature and it is something I wanted to share with everyone.
Martinez has lived in the Ozarks for 13 years. His father, a combat engineer with the US Army, brought us here.
I love the country feel of the Ozarks. Nature and scenery have always drawn me and inspired my writing. But the thing I love most about the Ozarks is driving down the interstate and seeing the fall changes through the Ozark landscape.
Martinez has been writing poetry for eleven years. When asked what inspired him he said,
The usual teenage trifles of heartbreak and trying to find a way to express myself.  It eventually changed to trying to mimic the literature I loved growing up. And now it is used to show my point-of-view to the world.

My favorite poetry to write is anything related to nature or dealing with human thought, emotion, and mental fancies
I live with my wife, Victoria Martinez.  She was by my side for seven years, we are enjoying married life. We are expecting to meet our daughter in March.
I enjoy fishing, having bonfires with family and friends, and spending way too much time on the computer.
Martinez is serving as Vice-President for Missouri Author's Circle.
He is also working on an anthology of poetry. In addition, he has published poetry in Yarns From Ozark Storytellers.
Martinez has a fantastic science fiction poem for our collection of short stories and poems in 2019.
